We are delighted to announce that our friends in Surabaya have formally established themselves as a foundation named Yayasan Sukacita Keluarga Indonesia (CERIA), which fittingly means “cheerful.” CERIA stands for “Sukacita Keluarga Indonesia”, meaning “The Joy of Family in Indonesia.” This name reflects their mission to bring joy and support to Indonesian families.

In the photo, you can see CERIA’s core group members on October 25, 2024, the day they signed their incorporation documents. They wore pink and blue as a tribute to Educhild, who has and will continue conducting training sessions and courses in Indonesia.

The Educhild team that went to Surabaya was composed of four couples from the Educhild Quezon City – East, which is one of Educhid’s family enrichment centers in Metro Manila. They are:

Paul and Denice Price – QC East Area Chairpersons

PJ and Rina Garcia

Edmond and Leigh Tobias

Darren and Vernie Abcede

The course that they conducted is called “Effective Parenting Series” (EPS) which is composed of 3 cases covering the following topics: Deliberate Parenting, Dignity of the Human Person and Marital Relationships.

EPS was conducted in Surabaya on a weekend last July 27 and 28. 16 couples finished the course. They are mostly young couples in their 30s with 1 to 3 children ages 7 and below.

The Educhild Team also conducted a Facilitators Training Session to 9 out of the 16 couples.

The couple from Surabaya who coordinated with Educhild was Hugo and Shelvi Siswanto who led the formation of CERIA. They will be the representatives of CERIA in IFFD.

Our Family Enrichment center Educhild will continue to support CERIA in delivering parenting and marriage courses in Surabaya. We look forward to seeing the CERIA spirit spread to Jakarta and beyond.
