What is the relation between development, expansion, prosperity and education? A superficial reading of the 2030 Agenda can give the impression that eradicating poverty is what really matters, as if sustainability had to do only with the present generation. The very essence of sustainable development has to do not only with meeting “the needs of the present”, but also “without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” in its three dimensions –environment, society, and economy, especially in the way we face the growth in cities. That is why education for sustainable development is so important, because it calls for solutions to make the world more livable for this and future generations.
