Workshop for families in Dubai
Under the title ‘Building your children’s character: growing in virtues’, a work session was held (November 17) to promote IFFD programs for families in Dubai. The session was conducted by Zeina Trad Barakat, a IFFD moderator based in Lebanon who traveled November 17 to Dubai for the occasion.

The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly approved the draft resolution titled ‘Follow‑up to the twentieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family and beyond’.
NCFR Annual Conference
The 2018 NCFR Annual Conference has taken place in San Diego (California, USA) from November 7ht to November 10th, with nearly 1,500 participants under the theme ‘Families and Cultural Intersections in a Global Context: Innovations in Research, Practice, and Policies’.
LEAP for young professionals in the Philippines
Year 2018 saw a positive explosion of IFFD’s Personal Project program in the Philippines. Rebranded as Life Endeavors and Projects (LEAP), a total of 316 single young professionals attended in 10 locations – 5 in Metro Manila and 5 in the Visayas and Mindanao islands.
IFFD Paper 80. Towards an improved family stability
The effectiveness of family policies and programmes depends on their regular assessment. That is where qualitative and quantitative research on family structures, needs, challenges and changing intergenerational relations are needed.
Presentation of the Venice Declaration
A Panel Discussion in Observance of the World Cities Day 2018 has been held in the UN HQ in New York to present the outcome of the project promoted by IFFD on cities
Training in Alberta, Canada
On October 27th and 28th two training events were held in the Alberta region. The same scheme was repeated the following day in Edmonton.
International Conference on Parenting
The Doha International Family Institute, in collaboration with UNICEF-MENARO, has organized an international conference on ‘Parenting, Child Wellbeing, and Development’ (October 23 to 24) to highlight the importance of investing in parents and parenting strategies, programs, laws, and policies at all levels.
Civil Society Meeting in Doha
A meeting with some of the most important international representatives of Civil Society has been held in Doha (October 23) organized by the Doha International Family Institute in collaboration with the International Federation for Family Development.
Expanding the team of moderators in Chile
Last September a training was held at the ESE Business School for new Family Enrichment moderators. More than 80 people attended, many of which will join the team of moderators in an attempt to meet the increasing demand of IFFD programs.
Spain. FERT Association corporate event.
In the midst of a family celebration atmosphere and the solemnity of an academic act, on September 29th an event was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the association, whose mission is the training of parents.
Celebrating First Steps in Israel
Participants in a First Steps Program pilot in Israel celebrated the end of the course by getting together in a family environment and enjoying a cake baked by one of the participants.
Expansion in Portugal
On the 13th and 14th of October a training for moderators was held in Lisbon which over 50 people attended
LIFE in New York
As every year, at the beginning of Autumn a training session for IFFD Programs’ coordinators was held in the New York region.

Parents play a key role in launching their children into adulthood. Differences in the resources they provide their children have implications for perpetuating patterns of family inequality.
Presentations in Madrid and Barcelona of the SDGs&Families Global Research Project
27 & 28 September 2018. The Synthesis Report of the SDGs&Families Global Research Project was presented in Barcelona and Madrid, with the participation of many representatives of public authorities and civil society.
Training in Cologne
A special training for families was held in the German city of Cologne on 14th-16th of September. The sessions were focused on training young moderators for the Married Love 1 and Personal Project
IFFD Advocacy Workshop
The 2018 IFFD International Advocacy Workshop was held in Madrid (Spain), 4th to 7th September and brought together entry-level professionals of social studies/political science or a related field with a strong interest in family issues. They came from diverse geographical, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

3rd Edition of the Family Enrichment Holidays
On June 30th the 3rd Edition of the Family Enrichment Holidays (FEH) kicked off. This activity is designed to further qualify moderators and other people who continue to coordinate IFFD’s programs all over the world, although it’s specially directed to European countries.

1st Venezuelan National Convention
Families for Families is the coordinating association for IFFD programs in Venezuela. They begun their activities some years ago in Caracas and, in spite of the tough socio-economic situation, through their dedication and decision they managed to bring IFFD courses to cities such as Maracaibo and Valencia.
Meeting with the new Executive Director of Unicef
José Alejandro Vázquez, IFFD’s Representative to the UN, has a brief meeting with the new Executive Director of Unicef Mrs. Henrietta H. Fore to discuss about the Synthesis Report of the SDGs&Families Project. IFFD has been participating as an observer of the Annual Session of the Unicef Executive Board.
LAR Convention in Mexico
The LAR Association, responsible for the coordination of the Family Enrichment courses in Mexico, held in Monterrey from May 25th to the 27th its 9th Annual Convention.
National Convention in France
The local branch of IFFD in France IPEF has celebrated their annual convention in Tartigny, May 26-27, with the participation of leaders in Family Enrichment in 10 cities.
Personal Project Sydney launch
Australia is the latest country to launch IFFD’s Personal Project program, aimed at youths from 22 to 32 years old. The first session took place on June 13th in Sydney where 60 participants attended.
Training session in Asia
IFFD’s Director Leticia RodrÃguez went on a tour from April 15th – 21st in order to hold training sessions for IFFD programs’ moderators in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and China.
Family Congress in Hungary
With the participation of more than 600 families and a panel of international speakers, the Congress of the Hungarian association NOE (Nagycsaládosok Országos Egyesülete) has been held in Veszprém, 11-15 July 2018.
