Megatrends, including new technologies, rapid urbanization and migration, as well as demographic and climate change, have been dramatically shaping our world. In preparation for the Thirtieth Anniversary of the International Year of the Family, 2024, the United Nations aims to raise awareness of the above megatrends, their impact on families and responsive family-oriented policies to tackle their effects.

It is within this spirit that IFFD took the opportunity of collaborating in the organization of the event “Family Megatrends in the Future of Europe” celebrated at the European Large Families Conference. The aim was to bring into the debate the present and future of the influence of those megatrends in Europe.

It was held with the participation of Getter Rang, Head of Communications and Marketing at the Estonian Association of Large Families; Rémy Verlyck, Moderator of the International Focus Group on Families and New Technologies; Mark Szucs, Young Ambassador at the Eurocities Culture Forum on sustainable city development at Edinburgh; and Balazs Kelemen, Youth Delegate of Hungary to the United Nations.
